I saw white winged crossbills on MT Abe this morning, June, 15 at 7:00 AM
upon completion of my VINs mt birdwatch looking for bicknells...of which there
were quite a few this year. There were two crossbills noisily flying around
each other. One landed in a very nearby tree and I had a good long look.
Unmistakably a white winged crossbill. Looked like the first year male. Absolutely
no winter wrens, chickadees or kinglets, few juncos (where did the ones from
spring all go???). The calmest day I've ever had up there...no wind, very
clear.
