Interesting. I had a similar experience early afternoon on my 25-mile drive from Piermont to Warren on Rte. 25. Several small groups of turkeys on the side of the road. I thought it weird too. I wonder if some of our sightings might overlap?

Today we drove from mid-coast Maine back to Lyme - about 120 miles - and we saw at least 12 groups of wild turkeys along the roads. This was mostly on local roads and Maine and NH route 25. Some groups were as small as 2 or 3 birds; other groups were at least a dozen.
