I took advantage of the weather and paddled around Crystal Lake in Enfield. Larry Morin showed me this gem this week and I just HAD to go back. My photography didn't pan out but the ducks were pretty awesome. LOTS of Mallards and a few Long-tailed Ducks, Black Scoters, Bufflehead and a Lesser Scaup. The water is low and there are extensive flats near the boat launch. Morning light makes it very hard to see much from the landing but an evening trip might be worth it. I did have some shorebirds--after a brief panic I realized they were Snow Buntings.
