Cathy Hybels reports by phone that about 20 minutes ago the white heron/egret was back in the same location where seen and photographed late yesterday. The site is on the west side of Route 5 about 200 yards north of the intersection of Routes 5 and 132 in Norwich.

Species identification of that bird is presently tentative. It might be an immature Snowy Egret, but other possibilities have not yet been fully ruled out.

Many thanks to Cathy for her reports and to all who have participated in discussions, observations, and photography of this exceptional bird.

George Clark
Norwich, VT
