This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, March 28th, 
2012.



4 SANDHILL CRANES were seen at Moore Fields along Route 155A in Durham on 
March 25th, but they have not been relocated.



A DICKCISSEL was seen at a birdfeeder along Wallis Road in Rye on March 
24th.



A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen in Hampton Harbor, and 2 BONAPARTE'S GULLS were 
seen on the Connecticut River near Hanover, all on March 25th.



A SNOW GOOSE was seen at Great Bay Farm in Greenland on March 24th.



A female REDHEAD was reported from the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on 
March 25th. Also present here during the past week were an AMERICAN COOT, a 
pair of GADWALL, an ICELAND GULL, 26 LESSER SCAUP, 6 BUFFLEHEADS, and 11 
RING-NECKED DUCKS.



4 NORTHERN SHOVELERS were seen on Squam Lake on March 23rd, and 5 were seen 
near Ledyard Bridge on the Connecticut River in Hanover on March 24th.



4 LONG-TAILED DUCKS, a RED-NECKED GREBE, and 6 BUFFLEHEADS were seen on Lake 
Waukewan in Meredith, and 4 BUFFLEHEADS were seen on Lake Massabessic in 
Auburn, all on March 25th.



3 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 5 AMERICAN WIGEON, 43 GREEN-WINGED TEAL and 33 WILSON'S 
SNIPE were seen at fields at a farm in East Kingston on March 24th.



4 AMERICAN WIGEON were seen on the Connecticut River in Hanover on March 
25th.



PIED-BILLED GREBES were reported from several locations during the past week 
including Nashua, Concord, and East Kingston.



A BLACK GUILLEMOT was seen along the coast on March 27th.



2 VIRGINIA RAILS were heard in Lovering Marsh in North Hampton on March 
23rd.



A female BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen on the Little Cherry Pond Trail at 
the Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on March 22nd. Also 
present were 2 WINTER WRENS.



A CAPE MAY WARBLER that was found at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on 
January 14th, has been continuously seen since then, and was last reported 
on March 24th. It is usually seen near the shore path that goes north from 
the Seacoast Science Center, beyond the Settler's Monument and towards the 
beach, and is often seen feeding on brine flies in the wrack.



An OVENBIRD that was discovered in the yard of a private residence in Derry 
on December 31st, continues to be seen and was last reported on March 28th.



At least 3 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen visiting a birdfeeder in Roxbury on 
March 25th.



A least 12 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen at Morrill's Farm in Penacook on March 
24th.



A RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, and 2 FOX SPARROWS were reported from Durham on 
March 24th.



An "IPSWICH" SAVANNAH SPARROW was seen at Seabrook Beach on March 23rd, and 
a CHIPPING SPARROW was seen in Auburn on March 24th.



An EASTERN TOWHEE was seen in Goffstown on March 23rd.



A few PINE WARBLERS were reported from a number of locations during the past 
week, including Lee, Auburn, Goffstown, Webster, and Franconia.



150 TREE SWALLOWS were seen at Elm Brook Park in West Hopkinton on March 
22nd, 150 were reported from Turkey Pond in Concord on March 25th, and over 
100 were reported from a private residence in Goffstown on March 27th.



An estimated 40 FISH CROWS were reported from Manchester on March 22nd, and 
3 were reported from Hampton Beach State Park on March 24th.



A NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL was seen in Wentworth on March 26th.



Returning OSPREYS were reported from Tilton, Hooksett, Greenland, Newington, 
and Nashua during the past week.



3 AMERICAN KESTRELS were reported from Dover on March 25th, and 2 were 
reported from Lyme on March 25th.



A NORTHERN HARRIER was reported from Concord on March 28th.



A pair of PEREGRINE FALCONS is nesting in Manchester and has already begun

A CHUKAR, an exotic game bird, was seen in Lee, and 3 were seen in New 
London, all on March 26th.



Waterfowl migration is in full swing with reports of CANADA GEESE, COMMON 
MERGANSERS, WOOD DUCKS, HOODED MERGANSERS, RING-NECKED DUCKS, AMERICAN BLACK 
DUCKS, and MALLARDS during the past week.



There were a few reports of BALD EAGLE, KILLDEER, GREAT BLUE HERON, BELTED 
KINGFISHER, NORTHERN FLICKER, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, CAROLINA WREN, HERMIT 
THRUSH, EASTERN PHOEBE, BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD, and many sightings of 
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS and COMMON GRACKLES, all during the past week.
