A first-of-the-year Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, a male, was along Hopson
Road, near Pine Tree Road, in Norwich this morning (April 8).

My earliest spring date for a sapsucker in Norwich was back on March
25, 2000.

Also this morning, there were at least 150 waxwings in the area around
Norwich Square at the corner of Main and Elm Streets in Norwich. Many,
if not all, were Bohemian Waxwings.

My latest spring date for Bohemian Waxwings in Norwich was on May 5,
2000, when I saw two of them.

George
