This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, October 24th, 
2012. .



A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was seen at a private residence at South Mill Pond in 
Portsmouth on October 23rd.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, DICKCISSEL, an AMERICAN 
TREE SPARROW, and a VESPER SPARROW were reported from Warren Farm in 
Barrington on October 23rd.



350 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen at Morrill's Farm in Penacook on October 20th, 
and an AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER, a PECTORAL SANDPIPER, and a LAPLAND LONGSPUR 
were seen there on the 21st.



Nearly 300 AMERICAN PIPITS, a RUSTY BLACKBIRD, and several AMERICAN TREE 
SPARROWS were seen at Sherman Farm in East Conway on October 23rd.



6 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen in Durham on October 17th, 6 were seen in 
Brookfield on the 16th, 9 were seen in Jefferson on the 15th, and 3 were 
seen in Derry on the 20th.



2 RED CROSSBILLS were reported from the Merrimack River Conservation Area in 
Concord on October 24th.



A RED CROSSBILL, 9 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, 4 NORTHERN PINTAILS, and 8 
PIED-BILLED GREBES were reported from Copps Pond in Tuftonboro on October 
23rd.



2 NORTHERN PINTAILS were seen on the Squam River in Ashland on October 24th.



A NORTHERN SHOVELER, 2 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 2 BUFFLEHEADS, 5 PIED-BILLED 
GREBES, and 2 AMERICAN COOTS were seen on Eel Pond in Rye on October 21st.



A BLACK SCOTER, and a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER were seen on the Connecticut River 
near Hanover on October 24th, and 2 GREATER SCAUP were seen there on the 
19th.



3 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen at Canobie Lake in Salem on October 20th.



A RUDDY DUCK was seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on October 
18th.



A BRANT was seen in a flock of CANADA GEESE in Rochester on October 23rd.



41 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 15 WOOD DUCKS, 6 HORNED GREBES, and 3 PIED-BILLED 
GREBES were seen on Cherry Pond, and 2 PIED-BILLED GREBES were seen on 
Little Cherry Pond, all at NH Audubon's Pondicherry Wildlife Sanctuary in 
Jefferson on October 22nd.



A HORNED GREBE was seen on Lake Massabesic in Auburn on October 17th.



3 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS were seen in Hampton on October 21st.



A SPRUCE GROUSE and 2 GRAY JAYS were seen near Shoal Pond in Zealand Notch 
in the White Mountains on October 21st, and 2 GRAY JAYS were seen at Mud 
Pond in the Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on the17th.



A FOX SPARROW was seen at Warren Farm in Barrington on October 17th, and 1 
was reported from Hollis on the 20th.



An "IPSWICH" SAVANNAH SPARROW was reported from Odiorne Point State Park in 
Rye on October 17th, and 1 was seen at Hampton Beach on the 21st.



A RUSTY BLACKBIRD and a VESPER SPARROW were seen at the fields located 
behind the Concord Post Office on Loudon Road on October 21st



An AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was seen in Roxbury on October 24th.



Over 700 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were counted migrating south along the coast 
on October 21st. A late migrating TREE SWALLOW was also seen,



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Litchfield on October 19th.



RAPTOR migration is under way with over 11,800 raptors(including a SWAINSON'S 
HAWK on September 10th, and 4 GOLDEN EAGLES since October 15th) already 
reported from the Pack Monadnock Raptor Migration Observatory in 
Peterborough, and 6,635 raptors(including a BLACK VULTURE on September 21st, 
a GOLDEN EAGLE on October 6th, and a GOLDEN EAGLE on October 16th) reported 
from the Carter Hill Observatory in Concord, all since August 25th. Be sure 
to visit these observatories this fall season to help out with the count!
