This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, December 7th, 
2011.



A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen near the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on 
November 24th, and again on December 3rd and 4th.



A DOVEKIE was briefly seen stranded on land on the coast in Rye before it 
was caught and eaten by a RED-TAILED HAWK on December 5th.



A GLAUCOUS GULL, seen several times since late October, was again seen on 
the Seabrook side of Hampton Harbor on December 5th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on River Road in Stratham on December 3rd.



A male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen along the coast just south of Great Boar's 
Head in Hampton on December 4th.



3 EURASIAN WIGEON, 49 AMERICAN WIGEON, 3 REDHEADS, and 74 AMERICAN COOT were 
counted on Great Bay during the past week.



An ICELAND GULL, 81 LESSER SCAUP, a GREATER SCAUP, 2 GADWALL, a NORTHERN 
PINTAIL, 2 RUDDY DUCKS, 10 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, and 8 BUFFLEHEADS were seen at 
the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant on December 1st.



A lone BRANT was reported from Hampton Beach State Park on December 2nd.



3 RAZORBILLS, and a BLACK GUILLEMOT were seen from Odiorne Point State Park 
in Rye on December 5th. A RAZORBILL was seen from Great Island Common in New 
Castle, and 2 BLACK GUILLEMOTS were seen from Little Boar's Head in North 
Hampton, all on the 3rd.



A CAPE MAY WARBLER was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on November 
26th and 27th, and was last reported on December 2nd.



A PECTORAL SANDPIPER was seen in a flooded farm field off of Portsmouth 
Avenue in Greenland on December 1st, and a BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, and 2 
GREATER YELLOWLEGS were seen in Hampton on December 4th.



10 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen at Hampton Beach State Park, and an AMERICAN 
PIPIT was seen at Ragged Neck in Rye, both on December 5th.



4 EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported from Jefferson on December 4th.



2 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS and a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER were seen on Great Bay 
Road in Greenland on December 3rd.



An AMERICAN BITTERN was seen in Hampton Marsh on December 1st.



2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, 3 COMMON MERGANSERS, 17 
HOODED MERGANSERS, and a BALD EAGLE were all seen on Spofford Lake in 
Chesterfield on December 4th.



3 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS were seen on Cherry Pond in Jefferson on December 
4th, and 4 COMMON GOLDENEYES were reported from Lower Kimball Pond in 
Chatham on December 5th.



17 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 2 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 125 HOODED MERGANSERS, 2 COMMON 
MERGANSERS, and 3 COMMON LOONS were seen on Penacook Lake in Concord on 
December 3rd.



3 AMERICAN COOT and a GREATER SCAUP were seen on the Connecticut River in 
Hinsdale on December 7th, and 7 AMERICAN COOT, 5 LESSER SCAUP, a RING-NECKED 
DUCK, a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER, a SURF SCOTER, and 2 RUDDY DUCKS were seen on 
Eel Pond in Rye on December 1st.



A BROWN THRASHER, a WINTER WREN, and 2 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen at 
Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on December 1st, and a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET 
was seen at NH Audubon's Ponemah Bog Wildlife Sanctuary in Amherst on 
November 30th.



A TURKEY VULTURE was seen in Pittsfield and one was seen in Exeter, both on 
December 4th.



A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was seen in Penacook on December 4th.



A flock of 87 PINE SISKINS was reported from Lebanon on December 5th.



There were several reports of GRAY CATBIRDS, HERMIT THRUSHES, CAROLINA WRENS 
and EASTERN BLUEBIRDS during the past week.



A RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER was seen in New Hampton on December 3rd.
