Join the annual Wilder Dam Bald Eagle Watch on Saturday February 15, 2020, from 10 AM to noon at the Wilder Dam in Wilder, VT. This event is free and open to the public. All experience levels are welcome. Bring binoculars and, if available, a spotting scope. Dress warmly as conditions can be quite cool in mid February. Participants can come and go as they wish during the hours of the watch. In addition to looking for eagles, two of which are likely to be nesting nearby, we'll also look for other other birds including waterfowl in waters downstream from the dam.

Directions: Take US Route 5 to Wilder Village. Turn onto Depot Street, and at the end of the block turn left onto Norwich Ave. Almost immediately Passumpsic Ave. will be on your right. Take it over the railroad tracks, and then turn right onto Wilder Dam Rd. Follow the road down to the parking lot next door to Great River Hydro's administration buildings. This lot is ordinarily closed for public parking, but the Mascoma Chapter has special permission to park there for this event. Walk down the power plant's service road to the viewing area near the dam.

The viewing area is handicapped accessible. However, parking down at the dam overlook will be limited, especially if there has been snow. We are grateful to Great River Hydro for letting us use its lot.

In the event of inclement weather with hazardous road conditions, the event will be held on Sunday February 16 from 10 AM to noon.
