This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, July 15th, 2019.
A TRUMPETER SWAN was discovered at NH Audubon’s Abe Emerson Marsh in Candia
on April 13th, has continued being seen there, and was last reported on July
12th.
3 MISSISSIPPI KITE breeding territories, one each in Durham, Newmarket, and
Stratham continue to have reports of adult birds. The easiest birds to see
are in Durham usually along Madbury Road near Maple Street, and they were
last reported from there on July 14th.
As many as 4 LEAST BITTERNS continue to be reported from the Cranberry Pond
wetlands behind the Price Chopper store in the shopping center in West
Lebanon and the last report was on July 14th. 2 LEAST BITTERNS were reported
from World End Pond in Salem on July 13th.
There was an unconfirmed sighting of a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER at a
suet-birdfeeder in Surry on July 9th.
Several pairs of PIPING PLOVERS and LEAST TERNS are nesting at Hampton Beach
State Park. Please be careful not to disturb these birds when you are at the
beach.
3 RED CROSSBILLS and 2 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen along the Trudeau
Road trails in Bethlehem on July 13th.
9 PURPLE MARTINS were seen from Cross Beach Road in Seabrook on July 14th.
3 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were reported from Woodmont Orchard in Hollis on July
14th.
Several FOX SPARROWS were reported from the White Mountains, including from
Mount Washington, and Carter Dome, during the past week.
2 out-of-season RED-NECKED GREBES continue to be seen on the coast, and were
last reported on July 14th.
There was an unconfirmed report of 4 GADWALL seen from the River Trail at
Mink Brook in Hanover on July 11th.
