This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, March 25th, 
2019.



2 SANDHILL CRANES were seen at Moore Fields on Route 155A in Durham on March 
19th.



2 BLACK VULTURES were seen in Brookline, and 2 were seen in Nashua, all on 
March 25th. 2 BLACK VULTURES and 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS were seen at Fall 
Mountain in Walpole on March 24th.



2 BARROW’S GOLDENEYES were seen on the Androscoggin River in Errol on March 
19th.



A ROSS’S GOOSE was seen along Route 12 in Walpole on March 19th and 20th.

2 SNOW GEESE and a CACKLING GOOSE were seen on the Connecticut River 
downstream from the Route 123 bridge between Walpole and Vermont on March 
24th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at the Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge in 
Newington on March 20th, 1 was seen in Warren on the 21st, and 1 was seen in 
Gilford on the 24th.



A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was reported from Exeter on March 23rd.



An ICELAND GULL was seen in Plaistow on March 24th.



An ICELAND GULL and a GLAUCOUS GULL were seen at the Rochester Wastewater 
Treatment Plant on March 21st. The treatment plant is gated and the hours of 
operation are 7:30-3:00 on weekdays. If you visit, please check in at the 
office and be out of the plant by 2:45 so that plant personnel do not have 
to ask birders to leave. Do not drive on the dikes and do not block the 
road. The Trails at Pickering Ponds, located east of the plant, are not 
gated, and are always open during daylight hours.



A flock of over 60 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen in Warren on March 22nd.



A flock of 35 EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen in Jefferson on March 23rd, a flock 
of 28 was seen in Groveton on the 22nd, a flock of 10 was seen in Exeter on 
the 23rd, a flock of 9 was seen in Jaffrey on the 23rd, a flock of 7 was 
seen in East Kingston was seen on the 21st, and a flock of 5 was reported 
from Nottingham on the 22nd.



A flock of 56 COMMON REDPOLLS was seen in Jefferson on March 22nd, a flock 
of 40 was seen in Groveton on the 22nd, and a flock of 6 was seen in Conway 
on the 24th.



A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen again in East Kingston on March 24th.



There was an influx of returning migrants during the past week, including a 
PIED-BILLED GREBE, GADWALLS, NORTHERN PINTAILS, COMMON GOLDENEYES, 
RING-NECKED DUCKS, HOODED MERGANSERS, COMMON MERGANSERS, BUFFLEHEADS, 
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, WOOD DUCKS, GREAT EGRETS, GREAT BLUE HERONS, TURKEY 
VULTURES, MERLINS, OSPREY, EASTERN PHOEBES, TREE SWALLOWS, GREATER 
YELLOWLEGS,  WILSON’S SNIPE, AMERICAN WOODCOCK, KILLDEER, EASTERN 
MEADOWLARKS, COMMON GRACKLES, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, 
BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS, FOX SPARROWS, CHIPPING 
SPARROWS, SAVANNAH SPARROWS, FISH CROWS, and PINE SISKINS,
