Nearly 50 people attended Jim Block's informative and entertaining talk
"Birding With a Camera" this past Monday night at Hanover's Howe
Library. Jim's presentation included a challenging and humbling
selection of photos where viewers tried to match a female species to its male counterpart. He also shared a photo essay highlighting some of his favorite, and not necessarily widely-known, birding spots. Of course he also had plenty of tips regarding how to get the most out of your
camera when trying to record your birding adventures.

Next up, George Clark will lead us on a birding tour that begins in New Foundland's icy climes and then heads southward down the North
American coast all the way to Florida's sub-tropical Everglades. This introduction to
coastal birds will not only feature gannets, herons, waterfowl, waders,
and
other waterbirds in the wild as photographed by the speaker, it will
explore impacts
that make for continuing challenges in coastal bird conservation. You
won't want to miss this opportunity to share the experience and insight
of one of the area's pre-eminent birders.

The talk is on Monday, February 6th at Hanover's Howe Library beginning at 7 p.m., and it is free and open to the public.
Be sure to visit www.mascomabirds.org to learn about other upcoming events in our "Winter Speaker Series" as
well as future birding outings such as the February 11 "Eagle Watch" at
Wilder Dam.
