This AM, there was (and probably still is) a loose flock of pine grosbeaks near the intersection of East Main St and McKennie Rd, Norwich. The birds were feeding in several of the numerous crab apple trees down the hill toward Ledyard, and along Montshire Rd. They also could be seen and heard in adjacent trees and on telephone wires. I counted 12, but there could easily have been double that number.
In Hanover, a flock of about 20-25 wheeled out of a top of a tall tree near the Wheelock/Mainstreet intersection, leaving two or 3 individuals behind.
Keep your eyes and ears open as the numbers seem to be increasing in this area.
