*Invertebrate Paleontology Collection Manager, University of Colorado 
Museum of Natural History*

The University of Colorado Museum of Natural History invites 
applications for the full-time position of Invertebrate Paleontology 
Collection Manager. The paleontology section of the CU Museum is focused 
on the Paleogene fossil record of the Rocky Mountain region, but we do 
have specimens that range throughout the Phanerozoic, originating from 
localities across the globe. Invertebrate Paleontology now has over 
300,000 cataloged fossil terrestrial invertebrates, marine invertebrates 
and plants in the collection.

*Responsibilities:*

The Invertebrate Paleontology Collection Manager is responsible for 
day-to-day operation of the invertebrate paleontology collections (which 
includes both invertebrate and plant fossil material); manages 
curatorial needs of specimens and library material; manages the 
database; supervises and trains students and volunteers; participates in 
teaching and research; works with Invertebrate Paleontology Curator to 
develop policy, procedures and grant proposals; serves on Museum 
committees; responds to collection inquiries and provides visitor 
assistance related to the collections. Applicant should have extensive 
collection management experience, including experience with relational 
databases, specimen preparation, webpage development and maintenance, 
and supervising. The applicant should also have knowledge of fossil 
invertebrates and/or plants.

*Requirements:*

Applicants should have a Masters degree in Museum Studies or in an area 
of Section expertise and collection focus or related area. 1 year of 
experience in a collections management position of similar size and 
scope is required (3 years experience desired).

Applicants should have demonstrated writing, public speaking, 
organizational skills and excellent computer skills, including 
d*a*tabase management. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
are required, as the collection manager must be able to interface with 
scientists and the public.

*Salary:* $36,000 (US)
