When in Rome ..

In the old days, my American publishers bought the print from the British and in the US, the American edition was identical to the British one. Now things have changed. Books can be updated and reprinted fast.

It’s a fact of life that American usage is becoming standardised across the English speaking world. Even the august BBC frequently uses gotten.
