Bob,

I don’t think your experience is in conflict with what I was saying, or that it represents different behavior.

First, note that I said “Document Manager _Folder_”, not “Window”. The Document Manager Folder is set in the Preferences and is usually set to the “Nisus Documents” folder. As you said, you don’t keep files there. Files in that location should (probably) not trigger a sandbox warning, even if they are old. (I’m not 100% sure about that.) The files listed in the Document Manager window could be located anywhere, including outside of the Sandbox, and if you have not opened them with the NW 2.1 yet, then trying to open them might (should?) cause a Sandbox warning.

On the other hand, as you point out if you open a file directly "by hand" (not through an “automatic" process like clicking a link) than I think you are right that Nisus never complains. It just opens it. This is I believe the expected behavior. And once it has been opened, it knows the file is OK, so it won’t complain again anyhow.

The maybes in my message on this topic are due to the fact that I long ago gave Nisus access to everything, so I never get a warning ;-)

So my advice to Abassamad (and to you too, Bob) is still: Run the macro, and select your home folder. After that, I think you should no longer get any warnings. (Keeping my fingers crossed on that.)

Philip

This is a general security feature of Apple that restricts applications from accessing files outside of a restricted area without explicit permission. You are presumably getting this message, because you have stored the relevant files in folders outside of your Document Manager folder (which by default is the “Nisus Documents” folder).

I find that Sandboxing only prevents me from opening documents saved in the Document Manager window before Sandboxing was implemented. It does not prevent me from opening Nisus documents via the Open dialog in Nisus or by double-clicking them in the Finder. It does not matter where these documents are on my hard drive.
