Hei Brian

That was our first thought, - but no luck. The problem are that we are
unable to locate the 'M'-label on them, - and that someone overhere says
that our G5 simply doesn't exist...:-)

My friend and I bought two identically G5s - dual 1,8ghz - the one I
have is produced in 0503 (Mar.05) and my friend's is produced in 0411
(Nov.04) - which means that the model should be the mid.04 that
discontinued in apr.05 with _PCI_ slots and /not/ _PCI-X_ slots... -
BOTH machines do indeed have PCI-X slots. - And this should then mean
that our machines are the late.03 version... - But that donot correspond
with the manufacturing dates.:-)

Also both machines do have the PowerPC970FX CPU and not the normal
PowerPC70 from the 2003 model. - Graphics cards are the NVidia GForce
FX5200 and not the FX5200Ultra from the 2003 model..:-))

So one could even say that our two G5s don't exist according to neither
MacTracker nor AppleHistory.:-)) - The closest is the Early.2005 G5, but
again according to MacTracker and AppleHistory.com the smallest one here
is a 2x2,0ghz. - Another thing... Both machines do indeed also have the
CD/DVD-RW DL SuperDrive and /not/ the CD-RW/DVD-RW ComboDrive like the
2003 model. Mine is with a Pioneer DVR-117D, which Apple began to use in
late 2004 and my friend's is with a LG DL drive that Apple used in 2004
and up into mid 2005, where they dropped the LG because of too many
problems and switched to Pioneer or the Sony OPTIARC. A few of the last
G5s (2,5-2,7ghz) came with a Matshita DL DVD instead...

So can you see our puzzle - or perplexity.:-))?

Cheers, Erik Richard
