I have no experiences with Amazon, but a bit with other companies. - 
Yes, they want the document in as simple a format as possible and - as 
you already have - only using 1 font in the text.

Those I had connections to wanted the files to be with "Times New Roman 
13p", "Linotype Times 13p" or the "URWOptima Serif 13p" - and only with 
'Regular' and 'Italics'. These three fonts are as close to each others 
that they can be...

I don't know either if Amazon requires a specific margin setting, but 
the two of those I know of requre all margins set to either 2,0cm/0,8" 
or 2,5cm/1", and documents must be saved either in .doc or .rtf format. 
(One company also allows .pdf, but they also wants a .doc file as well).

Hope you can use this for something...
