You are probably quite right. But you are skipping two important points:

(1) the images do not yet exist (the original poster wants to create images of as-formatted reports in Filemaker and get them into some new data system)

(2) manipulating container data in FMP6 was rudimentary compared with FMP11/12. In particular, exporting an image from a container with a filename based on data in the record is not possible natively

The first can be answered in part using the old trick I mentioned. The second probably requires a plugin or two, which may make the whole attempt more trouble than it's worth. It may just be simpler (and as cheap) to invest in a copy of FMP12.
