Andy,

You don't need Server Advanced.  First, why are you making the clones and then importing into them?

To save files as clones, you either need to run a schedule on FMS to backup and clone the files, or take a copy off the server and use FileMaker Pro to save a copy as clone.

I'm not sure what you're meaning about lookups and how that relates to the paths you need to use though.  The paths are set inside the files to be able to locate other files in the solution.  Lookups are related to auto entry of data in records being modified.  Maybe there's a terminology mixup here, so it might help to explain what you're trying to achieve.
