CERAMICS--located by the river

We recommend you start early in the term.

The Davidson Ceramics Studio opens for Fall Term on Wed., Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.

CERAMICS STUDIO Fall Term Hours:
MON: 1-5pm
TUES: 1-5 pm
WED: 1-5 pm
THURS: 1-7 pm
FRI: 1-5 pm
SAT: 1-5pm

Student COST: $12 per term or $32 for the year (F,W,Sp). You can sign up for the term when you arrive at the Ceramics Studio-you may register for the term anytime during weeks 1 through 7. Material charges are $1 per pound of clay. Most students start with a $5 bag of clay (cash or Dash). Glazes and firing are included in the clay charges.

LOCATION: The F.A. Davidson Ceramics Studio is located just across the Ledyard Bridge in the small brick building on the Norwich side of the Connecticut River, a lovely 10-minute walk down Wheelock Street from the Green.

HAND BUILDING INSTRUCTION and INDIVIDUAL POTTER'S WHEEL INSTRUCTION:
Available anytime during our open hours through Nov. 8th (after that date we concentrate on trimming and glazing only). We advise arriving at the studio well before 4pm (before 6pm on Thursdays), and starting clay work in the studio as early in the term as possible. Potter's wheel work requires multiple visits to the studio. All "wet work" and trimming for the term must be completed by Nov. 10th and bisque fired and glazed by Nov. 21st.

BEGINNING POTTERS WHEEL INSTRUCTION SESSIONS (small group instruction) available at 2pm Monday through Saturday¬ from Sept. 21- Nov. 8th (after that date during weeks 9 and 10, we will concentrate on trimming and glazing only). Wheel instruction sessions are recommended for beginners but not required. They are available on a drop-in basis, once or multiple times. The small group sessions are designed to help learn basic wheel throwing techniques. However, if you cannot make the sessions you can still learn wheel throwing and receive individual instruction. Just come in whenever you have time, even if you are a beginner--starting early in the term is recommended.

Monday night mini classes: "Making a Mug on the Potter's Wheel" Sept 26, or Oct 3, or Oct 10. "Making a Bowl on the Potter's Wheel" Oct 17. Each mini class is 5pm-6:30pm at the studio--ADVANCED SIGN UP REQUIRED FOR MINI CLASSES!Please blitz to sign up: [log in to unmask]
