Cross Country ski the skyline trail

MODERATE 6.3 mile ski (3 to 5 hours)
The Skyline Trail travels a scenic route through rural central Vermont, crossing numerous farms and pasture lands. The trail is ungroomed, but maintained by the Woodstock Ski Touring Center. It follows close by the 17,000 foot, intermittent ridge line, repeatedly climbing up and then dropping off. The trail drops more than 700 feet in the final two miles until it crosses a field and ends at Suicide Six Ski Area.

We will take care of trail snacks. Leaving at 12:30 and getting back at 7PM at the latest.

Cost: 3$ DOC members; 5$ non doc

To get more info / sign up Blitz Lorin Paley!

SATURDAY SATURDAY SATURDAY

Kentucky Fried CARDIGAN.
Winter hiking is at its finest when you have two Southerners leading you. Sweet tea meets hot chocolate.

This Saturday come with us to hike Mount Cardigan. A 3.3 mile trek round trip, this mountain provides some of the greatest views near Hanover for only a moderate level of challenge.

We'll leave from behind Robo at 9AM and get back by 4PM.

For just $4 ($6 if your not a DOC member), we'll provide all of the gear you need as well as deliciously delectable lunch and other munchies!

Blitz Anabelle Ferguson or Julia Hudnut-Beumler with any questions or with your DA$H to sign-up!

SATURDAY SATURDAY SATURDAY

Intermediate Cross-Country Skiing

Come for a ~7 mile ski with us around the recently-groomed trails in Hartland, VT! It's a beautiful area and should be a beautiful day (NOAA's telling me partly sunny and a high of 47). Also, all your profs told me they'll give you extra credit or at least preferential treatment if you go.* Some experience recommended.

We'll head out from campus at 10 am and be back by 3 pm.

Cost: $3 for DOC members, $6 for non-members.

To sign up or ask questions, blitz Rebecca Novello! We'll need your DA$H (as well as shoe size and height if you don't have skis)

SATURDAY SATURDAY SATURDAY

Beginner Cross-Country Ski Trip!

Do you have an unyielding desire to explore a way more awesome means of winter transportation? Think you'd look good with skis on your feet? Have a crush on that cute Nordie in your Geography class and want to show him or her your newfound skills? If you answered "Yes", "Maybe", or "What?" to any of the above questions, then this is your lucky day. At 9:30 on Saturday morning we'll meet at the golf course to get our FREE ski rentals and boots, and then we'll spend the morning learning how to cross-country ski on the golf course. It will definitely be awesome. If you know how to ski already, you're still welcome to come! All levels of experience are welcome. We'll be done no later than 1 PM, so you'll have your whole afternoon free for homework, napping, reading, dreaming about aforementioned Nordie...

To sign up, blitz [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> with your HEIGHT and SHOE SIZE (so we can get your free rental skis & boots! you won't be officially signed up unless we have both of those very important facts about you).

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY
Hike East Osceola and Osceola (former plan was Mt. Carrigain)

Come hike East Osceola and Osceola on Sunday, in the snow! Both are 4000 foot peaks in the Sandwich Range. It'll be a somewhat strenuous 8 mile hike round trip, and beautiful snowy scenery, a good time outside, and some fantastic winter pictures are pretty much guaranteed (we may also come across Narnia). Lunch and snacks and all necessary gear will be provided. Leaving campus at 7:30am (ish), getting back when we get back (likely somewhere in the region of teatime).

At the moment we are only taking a minivan at the most (room for six max), so sign up soon!

Cost: $7 for DOC members, a few more for non-members (pending information about gas).

Blitz Anna Knowles ("Chefanna" works too) to sign up or ask questions.
