There will be a pie workshop, sugar on snow and maple sugaring (if weather permits),  

snowshoeing, nature walks, and good food!!

Powershift 2011 is a youth climate conference put on by the Energy Action Coalition  
that takes place every two years in Washington, DC. With a ton of workshops and  
lots of networking opportunities, Powershift is an awesome way to meet other young  
people who are excited about solving environmental issues through political activism.  
More importantly, the conference concludes with Lobby Day, when every participant  
has the chance to lobby in the offices of their elected Congressional representatives  
to ensure that their voices are being heard. The keynote speakers in years past  
have been incredible, including EPA administrator Lisa Jackson, Senator Ed Markey,  
and Obama's environmental advisor, Van Jones. Two years ago, Powershift 2009 drew  
over 12,000 youth from across the country, 48 of which were Dartmouth students.  
This year, we are looking for an even bigger turnout, and we want YOU to help  
us out!

DARTMOUTH COUNCIL ON CLIMATE CHANGE (DC3)

"Prospects for Renewable Energy in Combating Climate Change"
Dr. Benjamin Luce, Lyndon State College, Physics and Sustainability Studies
7:00pm, 041 Haldeman Center
(Followed by an 8pm meeting of the Dartmouth Coalition on Climate Change)

Dr. Luce will discuss relevant facts about cost trends, resources, environmental  
impacts, and technological innovations. He has worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory  
and was president of the New Mexico Solar Energy Association.

Prior to teaching at Lyndon State College, Dr. Luce worked in the Theoretical  
Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory from 1993-2007 where he conducted research  
in nonlinear phenomena and renewable energy. He also served as president of the  
New Mexico Solar Energy Association for five years, and chair/director of the  
New Mexico Coalition for Clean Affordable Energy for a decade, and was centrally  
involved in the development of clean energy legislation in New Mexico, including  
the state's renewable energy standard and tax incentives for solar and wind.
