WHAT IS GREEN KEY WEEKEND?
*******************************
Green Key Weekend began as a weekend affiliated with the Green Key Society. Green
Key Society's original role was to provide hospitality to visiting athletic teams.
Over the years, however, this responsibility transferred over to the Dartmouth
College Athletic Council, leaving Green Key to focus on providing service to the
College community, during times such as Commencement and First-Year Orientation.
But what about Green Key Weekend?
Like we said, the Weekend was originally affiliated with Green Key Society. It
was a weekend, formerly known as Junior Promenade, that represented one of the
three times of the year during which Dartmouth students, particularly members
of the Green Key Society, got to show the world the extent of their Dartmouth
spirit. However, over the years, the Weekend has morphed into an overall celebration
of springtime and school spirit, in which all members of the Dartmouth community
come together and show their pride for our beloved alma mater.
So welcome all to the beginning of Greek Key Weekend 2011! Celebrate spring,
show your Dartmouth spirit, and have a safe and wonderful weekend!
