Interested in spending Summer 2012 in Tanzania? Dartmouth Humanitarian 
Engineering (DHE) is sending a group of students to Tanzania this summer 
and we want you to apply!

The travel team will be implementing alternative fuel projects, including 
improved cookstoves and briquetting in rural communities in Tanzania.  DHE 
has been working on developing these technologies for the past several years 
and has successfully implemented similar projects in the rural Kigoma region.  
It's a great chance to really help shape the projects. This is an awesome 
chance to get hands on experience while making a direct and lasting impact!

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE AN ENGINEER
Don't know anything about stoves or engineering? Not a problem.  DHE is 
focused on diversifying the interests of its group members to gain a more 
balanced insight into the communities in which it works. That means we want 
people from all different departments to get involved and work and travel with 
us. No matter what your major, if you have an interest in visiting rural villages 
in developing countries we want you to tell us your ideas and what you think 
you could gain from a trip to one of the countries in which we're working.

We will also spend a lot of time preparing and gaining the necessary 
knowledge in the next few months. There will be opportunities to learn a ton 
of new things and use them in the summer, as well as bring your own 
experience, teach others and use them on this project.

COMPLETELY STUDENT RUN
DHE prides itself in being completely student run. That means we make all of 
the decisions about how we implement our project

APPLICATION PROCESS
DHE can only take a limited number of students on this trip. We will therefore 
have an application process where you'll have plenty of opportunities to tell us 
why and how you fit into this initiative. You will need to first submit a written 
application to DHE by email by Tuesday, April 3 and we will then invite you for 
a short interview/chat to get to know you better.

traveling this summer, please fill out the form and return it by April 3. 	We 
will also have some printed copies at our info session. Feel free to bring any 
questions about the application or the project to the info session.

If for any reason you can't make it to the info session but are still interested in 
the project, let us know and we'd be happy to meet with you at another time.

If you are chosen to be part of a travel group, most in-country expenses will 
be covered, however you are expected to fundraise $500 for the plane fare. If 
this contribution seems like it will be a barrier for you, don't worry, let us 
know and we'll work things out.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
Interested in the project but can't travel in the Summer? We have tons of 
engineering and non-engineering related things you can work on; exciting 
projects, tasks, research, independent studies you could take on.  If you'd like 
to be off campus in Fall 2012 and fancy working in Tanzania with this project, 
come to the info session and find out what we've got to offer.
