I want to reach out to Dartmouth performers and encourage students who are interested
in musical theater to audition for Hairspray. We chose this show for the cold
of winter at Dartmouth because it is so filled with joy and dance and music.
Because the message of the show is about bringing people together, and accepting
and loving people for who they are, no matter their size or color or beliefs.
We will cast between 20 and 30 students and are looking for performers of all
abilities.

It is my policy, as a faculty director, to work with student performing groups
to accommodate schedules. We have found in the past that members of singing,
dance and instrumental groups can usually miss at least one main stage rehearsal
a week in exchange for missing one singing group rehearsal a week until we get
into production.

Rehearsals are tentatively planned for Mondays thru Thursdays 7:00-10:30 and Sundays
1:00-5:00. Not all actors will be called at all times. The schedule will be
created a week in advance.

There are incredible dance roles available in Hairspray also. Our choreographer
is Keith Coughlin, a Broadway veteran and professional choreographer who recently
won the NH Theater Award for best choreography for The Pirates of Penzance.

Our guest music director is Joel Mercier, Resident Musical Director at the New
London Barn Playhouse and currently music director of Annie and Chicago at the
Northern Stage.

Scripts are available online below.

Email me with any questions about your schedule, interest or availability.

Looking forward to seeing you all,

Carol Dunne
Director
