The Student Initiative on Global Engagement invites you to join us for
our dinner discussion:
International Service: Is Something Better Than Nothing?
Thursday, November 10
4:30 pm, Cutter Shabazz
***Dinner from the Orient provided!
Participating in a service project is often a confusing experience. How do we
weigh the benefits and weaknesses of a service project?
If a service program has no significant impact on a community, can we justify
it as an educational experience for ourselves?
If so, do we have a responsibility to share this experience when we get back
home, and how do we represent it to our peers?
Sponsored by the Student Initiative on Global Engagement.
The Student Initiative on Global Engagement (SIGE) is supported by the
Office of the President through the Milton Sims Kramer '54 Memorial
Prize, the Tucker Foundation, and the Dickey Center. SIGE seeks to
bring together students passionate about challenging global
socioeconomic inequality in order to improve the ethics and efficacy
of student service, research, internships, and study in under-served
communities in the United States and around the world. The Initiative
hosts focused discussions, provides peer-to-peer advising, and
produces free resources on global opportunities.
