Hunger: The Biology & Politics of Starvation, Presentation by Dr. John Butterly
When: 6:30-8:30pm
Where: Monstshire Museum Meeting Room, Norwich, VT
What: Why do people starve? Despite the proliferation of humanitarian efforts,
food insecurity, chronic malnutrition, persistent hunger, and even starvation,
occurs because of a lack of political will. In 1948, the United Nations adopted
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights -- the first global expression of rights
to which all human beings are inherently entitled. More than sixty years later
famines continue. How is this possible? Dr. Butterly, Dartmouth professor, physician
and co-author of the recently published book, "Hunger: The Biology & Politics
of Starvation", will navigate us through how and why.
Environmental Conservation Organization
When: 7pm
Where: Collis 101
What: The Environmental Conservation Organization (ECO) is one of Dartmouth's
