The Dartmouth Math Society will be having its first meeting tomorrow (Monday) in Kemeny 105.

There will be PIZZA served at 6:30 PM, followed by a talk by Prof. Vladimir Chernov. The talk will be accessible to first-year students.

Title: "Smooth structures on spacetimes"
Abstract: The spacetime we live in locally looks like a 4-dimensional Euclidean space R^4.There are infinitely many smooth structures on R^4 but a striking fact is that only one is compatible with some very natural physical assumptions about it. The talk is based on the results of Newman and Clarke.

We will also talk about the activities we have planned for the rest of the term and we would love to hear your suggestions.
