Currently there are nine makers (with another in development and a much improved gloss version on its way [from Yale]). The current versions allow you to create annotated texts, form-based interactive exercises, and -- the newest ones -- drag-and-drop exercises for matching, sentence order, and vocab. introduction. For those who are doing work developing interactive materials, I'm looking for input and suggestions for further makers (interesting Javascripts) and would enjoy working with others to write the Perl scripts for new makers. Please keep in mind that exercises that are created through the makers are saved on the Mellon grant's server in Swarthmore -- Read: use it responsibly (for my sanity and our server's health). If you intend to use exercises made with these tools, please be sure to save the files on you local web server to ensure their long-term safety. We also encourage institutions who might use the makers on a broader scale to implement the scripts on local servers. The scripts are free and located on the makers site. Take a look and let me know what you think: http://lang.swarthmore.edu/makers/ Sincerely, Dan Beeby _____________________ Daniel Beeby Mellon Grant Technical Specialist Phone/Voicemail: 610-299-9031 [log in to unmask] http://lang.swarthmore.edu/mellon/ [log in to unmask] http://www.group4.cnchost.com
