Do you need to improve your skills in designing and teaching on-line courses? Whether you're starting from scratch or have some experience teaching on-line, here's a professional development opportunity you won't want to miss. Part I: The Basics of On-line Instruction begins October 26, 1999 for 4 weeks. Only basic knowledge of navigating the internet is required. Part II: Advanced Workshop for On-line Presenters begins January 12, 2000 for 6 weeks. Part II requires successful completion of Part I OR some experience in designing and teaching on-line courses. These on-line workshops will be led by Leslie Hammersmith, Computer-Assisted Instruction Specialist, from the Center for Educational Technologies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The meeting is intended for district and state personnel as well as university educators who are using and/or are interested in adapting the TESOL ESL Standards to meet their local needs.
