I would appreciate hearing from those who can offer suggestions for a good audio recording system.  

A couple of faculty members are looking for a portable unit, for voice recording, with a good microphone.  Preferably a machine that could be easily cabled to a computer for downloading, but also produce cassettes for duplication.  And, of course, reasonably priced.
