Medium sized white boards can cost $10/square foot and up. The white board
from your home center, used for lining cheap showers, costs about 50 cents
a square foot. Abitibi is one brand name and it comes in 4' x 8' sheets.
If you can find a table-saw wielding helper, you can afford to replace your
white boards more often.

My impression is that the home center white board lasts a little longer
than the fancy stuff. Take along a marker, and do a test before you buy.
Home centers do not specify dry eraser compatibility when they order their
stock.
