It is compatible w/68030 and higher Macs, OS 7.1 or later, 16 meg ram, 5 meg hard disk space, and EIA Class 1,2, or 2.o standard fax modems. (we run a PowerMac 7100 /48 meg ram, 500 meg harddrive, system 8.0) You can have up to 8000 mailboxes. But be careful here, because we used the faculty's telephone extensions as their mailboxes, and we had problems with any phone extension greater than 7999 (e.g., an extension of 8009 does not work!). There is a voice scripting editor that helped us work around this limitation, however. Also, we were using what we thought was a standard modem (Supra Express 56 K ITU standard), but it had a newer version of the Rockwell chipset, and we needed to get an upgrade from SmithMicro--a problem that caused some delay in getting this set up--not really as quick as we hoped. There is some problems with the documentation, especially in clear directions about how you get your unique messaging system setup, but through trial & error, we eventually got the call processing commands working to our satisfaction. It's been running daily for 2 months now, handling all our department's incoming calls (using about 100 active mailboxes, and recording scripts). For the price, a good voicemail solution. dkw Donald K.
