Reporting both to the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and the Information Technology Division, the successful candidate will exhibit a broad range of technological skills and a solid grasp of technology-based language pedagogy. In addition to supporting language instruction, the Instructional Technology Specialist for Modern Languages will have a role in campus-wide technology support and planning. Qualifications for this position include the following: * An advanced degree in language acquisition, a foreign language, educational technology or a related field. * Strong background in one or more of the languages taught at St. Lawrence (French, German, Japanese, Kiswahili, Russian, Spanish) * Experience in integrating instructional technologies into the foreign language curriculum and in supporting technology-based instruction in higher education * Experience in installing and maintaining computer and multimedia hardware * Experience in designing, building, and maintaining web sites * Ability to manage student staff The successful candidate will also provide evidence of excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable system-level skills in configuring and managing Windows 95/98 and who have experience in a scripting language such as JavaScript or Perl.
