Cabin and Trail leads lots and lots of hikes, cabin overnights, and assorted shenanigans even in winter weather! And you can borrow any and all winter gear that you might need - from warm layers to zero degree sleeping bags to snowshoes - for FREE!!!! (Just ask!)

Your gear options include but are not limited to:

  • rain jackets/windbreakers!
  • balaclavas!
  • sleeping bags!
  • snowshoes!
  • cross country skis!

What: THE FEED!

When: Wednesday @ 7pm at the Rock (16 Sargent St), walking train leaving from the back steps of Robo at 6:45 led by Katie McCabe

Why: Come eat a free home-cooked meal and get to know the friendly folks of CnT! No need to RSVP, just show up hungry!

What: ~SPOOKY~ cabin overnight at Ritchie Smith
When: Wednesday @ 8 P.M, back by around 9:30 A.M. on Thursday
Why: Costumes (highly recommended!), candy, spooky stories, and good vibes! Break up your week 3 routine with some friends!

Gear: Sleeping bag, a water bottle, a costume (or pajamas, flair, etc.). Optional: headlamp, jacket, whatever you need to be comfortable for sleeping!

What: A Board Game Themed Overnight at '66 Lodge
When: 7 PM Thursday (Back before 9L's)
Why: Come take advantage of Alex's ridiculous board game collection.
Level: 1 (Half mile hike in)

What: Firebuild!
When: Friday 5-6:30pm
Why: A trip to learn how to build a fire! This is needed to become a leader in CnT, but it is also a good skill to know if you're ever in the outdoors or just curious! No experience necessary.

Gear: dress appropriately for the weather; may need to walk in the woods, but no technical gear is required. Tools for fire will be provided.

What: MIA AND SHANNON' BFF EXTRAVAGANZA!!!
When: Friday night, time TBD
Why: Why go to frat row this Friday when you could hang out in the OG alternative social space (THE WOODS!!) Mia and Shannon will have great music, friends, stories and games to make this Friday night the banger you always wanted. Come on! Join us! You can spill beer on your shoes and ultimately end up disappointed walking back from BG at 2am ANY weekend. This is a once in a life time opportunity! Please come! We love you!

What: *~Blues Dancing~*
When: Friday, 7:15 P.M. to 11 P.M.
Why: This is going to be the very FIRST Fusion and Blues Dance in the Upper Valley, and we would love to see you there! It's only a 5 minute walk from Kappa Kappa Gamma (3 S Balch St, Hanover, NH 03755), with a beginner-friendly lesson from 7:15 P.M.-8: P.M. and a social dance from 8 P.M.-11 P.M. None of us know what to expect, but we're sure it's going to be ANYTHING BUT BLUE!

What: Trescott Trailwork Trip (Trailwork Fifty pt. 2!)
When: Saturday 9am to 3 pm
Why: Hang out with Matt and Geordi and Tommy, learn life skills, make the trails better. Have fun. Less than 5 miles with work along the way.

What: Mount Cardigan Sunsike!!!
When: Saturday 5:00 PM- 9:30 PM
Why: A relaxing 3 mile loop with a summit above tree-line for beautiful sunset views!!

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY

What: Mt. Washington!!!
When: 6:30 am - 6:00 pm
Why: BECAUSE YOU ARE BOLD!!! This 10 mile hike up Jewell trail is not for the faint-of-heart. Winds over 40 mph and temperatures considerably below freezing will make for a fun day. If you are looking for some epic winter hiking, this is the trip for you!
Level: 5
Leaders: Matt Magann and Alex Wells
Cost: $0 and 0¢
Gear: Hat, gloves, sturdy shoes, LOTS OF LAYERS (ideally windproof), microspikes, daypack. All can be borrowed for free!

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY

What: Mt. Liberty!
When: 7:30-4:00
Why: Beautiful exposed summit, awesome views, 8 miles, good people good times, predicted 60 degree weather.
Level: 3.5
Leaders: Sophie Smith and Dev Jhaveri
Cost: Whoa it's free!
Gear: Hiking boots and a solid jacket in case the top is chilly (weather can be unpredictable). You can borrow any of this!

A note about levels....

Level 1: Short, easy, super-beginner friendly hikes at a leisurely pace with relatively little elevation gain. Think Gile sunsikes and trips to Mink Brook!

Level 2: Slightly longer but still beginner friendly hikes with slight elevation gain, typically half day trips! Think Holt's Ledge or Moose Mountain!

Level 3: Longer trips with moderate elevation gain and mileages! Think Smarts and Cube!

Level 4: Longer trips with more significant elevation gain and mileages! Think Franc Ridge or the Kinsmans!

Level 5: Trips with the most significant elevation gain and mileages! Think Madison, Adams, and Washington!
