GET OUTSIDE WITH US THIS WEEKEND!!!!!

Cabin and Trail leads lots and lots of hikes, cabin overnights, and assorted shenanigans even in the winter! And you can borrow any and all winter gear that you might need - from warm layers to zero degree sleeping bags to snowshoes - for FREE!!!! (Just ask!)

{ Your gear options include but are not limited to:

  • rain jackets/windbreakers!
  • balaclavas!
  • sleeping bags!
  • snowshoes!
  • cross country skis! }

If you'd like to get outside this weekend, sign up for any of the trips below by either completing the linked google form or blitzing the email provided with your dietary restrictions and shoe size! 

As always, blitz the leaders with any and all questions!

WEDNESDAY WEDNESDAY WEDNESDAY What: *Nunnemacher* *Cabin* *Overnight!*
When: Wednesday Feb 6 8pm until Thursday 9am (back before 9L X-hour)
Why: Wanna get away from campus for a bit? Wanna spend the night in a cozy cabin with good company? Want eggs for breakfast?? Then join us on our trip to Nunnemacher Cabin! It'll be a 3/4 mile hike up to the cabin, but the cozy vibes and to-order eggs will be well worth it.

Cost: FREE
Gear: ANYTHING CAN BE BORROWED: Bring hiking/sturdy shoes as well as a sleeping bag.

SATURDAY SATURDAY SATURDAY What: *Norwich* *Contra* *Dance*  
When: Saturday 7:45PM-11:15PM
Why: Contra dance is a traditional New England style folk dance and what better way to celebrate Winter Carnival Weekend than dancing the night away #LestTheReallyOldTraditionsFail and also not like there's anything else important happening on campus anyways!!

SATURDAY SATURDAY SATURDAY What: *Gile* *Fun* *Times* *Winter* *Carnival* *Festive* *Party* *Hike*  
When: 9AM - 1PM
Why: 1.4 miles over super-easy terrain. Extremely chill pace and party-esque atmosphere! Snacks! Pls only come if you are down to get festive, have fun times, and meet wonderful people!

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY What: Pierce and Eisenhower
When: 8am SUNDAY to 8pm SUNDAY
Why: People have been hiking Pierce and Eisenhower for centuries to celebrate Winter Carnival. Join us and honor an incredible Dartmouth tradition. Or do it because we have food. xoxo
Level : 4.5/5 (please have previous winter hiking experience)
Leaders: Anna Ellis '19 and Jasper Meyer '22
Cost: ITS FREEEEEE
Gear: Everyone will need a daypack, 2 liters of water, warm (non-cotton) layers, hiking boots, and a warm hat and waterproof gloves.

A note about levels....

Level 1: Short, easy, super-beginner friendly hikes at a leisurely pace with relatively little elevation gain. Think Gile sunsikes and trips to Mink Brook!
Level 2: Slightly longer but still beginner friendly hikes with slight elevation gain, typically half day trips! Think Holt's Ledge or Moose Mountain!
Level 3: Longer trips with moderate elevation gain and mileages! Think Smarts and Cube!
Level 4: Longer trips with more significant elevation gain and mileages! Think Franc Ridge or the Kinsmans!
Level 5: Trips with the most significant elevation gain and mileages! Think Madison, Adams, and Washington!
