In Oneonta, NY

A rather unprecedented phenomenon today at the Franklin Mt. Hawkwatch in
NY's Catskill Mountains--passage of 128 Golden Eagles from 9:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m. hawk time.  Counters were Pete Fauth and Becky Gretton, with
numerous spotters and others present.  The great majority of the birds
were adults.

The previous single day high for Golden Eagles was 71 on 11/11/2015.

This follows a count of 24 GEs yesterday and 41 on 10/21, bringing the
site total to 219 for October and for the season. This is by far the
highest single month Golden total at the site, which usually peaks for
the species in mid-November.

No known explanation for this early and concentrated movement.
