Since I stopped filling the feeders—too many gray squirrels and chipmunks—phoebes have become my most common front-yard bird. And, until this morning, e. pewees were still whistling in the woods; even red-eyed vireos have stopped singing.

Still five or six hummingbirds here in Thetford Center. Females and very likely immatures. I haven't seen an adult male in a few days. I've seen not a single nighthawk over the pastures since last weekend.
