* Research seminar by PEW scholar Dr. Jose Avalos "Using Mitochondria
and Light to Control Metabolic Pathways"

Description:
On May 22nd at 4:00 PM in Chilcott auditorium of the Geisel School of
Medicine, Dr. Jose Avalos will be visiting Dartmouth to give a research
seminar. Dr. Avalos is an Assistant Professor in the department of
Chemical and Biological Engineering at Princeton University and a 2017
Pew Scholar in Biomedical Research. 

His research interests span multiple disciplines including
bioengineering and the production of biofuels, structural biology, and
systems biology. A Detailed description of his work can be found here.
In addition to presenting his research, Dr. Avalos will dedicate a
portion of his seminar to explain his career trajectory in academia.

Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers from all programs are
invited to attend Dr. Avalos' seminar to hear about his exciting science,
and his path to academic success. 

Additionally, 8 graduate students and postdocs will be invited to join
Dr. Avalos for lunch, and 5 graduate students and postdocs will be
invited to join him for dinner at the Pine restaurant in Hanover on a
first come first serve basis!
