This year, "Feathered Fridays" will have a new venue. Our Friday walks will explore the "Woodland Trail" in Hanover's Mink Brook Nature Preserve. 

This change was necessitated by last July 1st's major rain event that did significant damage to Buzzell Bridge Road in Union Village Dam Park causing the road’s closure. It will not re-open in time for us to do our May, “Feathered Friday” walks along the road out to the "Mystery Trail."

Mink Brook Nature Preserve is known to many members of the Upper Valley birding community as a must visit locale during spring migration. In addition to waterfowl on the brook and out on the river, the woods host a variety of migrating songbird species such as wood warblers.

The trailhead is accessed from a parking lot about a half-mile south of the Hanover Business District on NH Route 10. It is on the right just before the road crosses Mink Brook. Approaching from the south, the lot will be on your left just after you cross the brook. The parking area is adjacent to a fenced in electric transfer station.

The trail is a level, unpaved route that parallels Mink Brook as it flows its final half mile out to the Connecticut River.

The event is free and open to the public. All experience levels are welcome. Bring binoculars and/or spotting scopes as you prefer.
