A 7:30 am stop at Ledyard Bridge this morning provided evidence that phoebes to continue to struggle in this prolonged chilly weather. I counted 23 birds foraging on and over the exposed flats, mostly in Montshire Cove, but also along the shoreline on both sides of the RR bridge. Gradually warming temperatures over the next few days should take some pressure off these and other insectivores.
