Graduate Diversity Fellowships in Computational and Data Science

By Pat Ryan, ACM Chief Operating Officer

Submissions opened March 15 for the ACM SIGHPC/Intel Computational & Data Science Fellowships. The fellowships were created to increase the diversity of students pursuing graduate degrees in data science and computational science, including women as well as students from racial/ethnic backgrounds that have not traditionally participated in the computing field. The program will support students pursuing degrees at institutions anywhere in the world.

Find more information and details of the nomination process, at http://www.sighpc.org/fellowships. Nominations close April 30.

DCAL's Learning Community for Future Faculty

Teaching Confessions: What Worked, What Didn't - DCAL's Learning Community for Future Faculty
Monday, April 9, 12-1:30pm in DCAL Registration: https://libcal.dartmouth.edu/event/3411562

In this month's LCFF, join us to share your past teaching experiences, whether good or bad. We hope to learn from each other as to what works and what didn't during our early teaching careers. Come with a story or a listening ear, while we reflect upon our skills as an instructor--whether in the classroom or in the teaching lab.

In order to cultivate a community focused on teaching and learning amongst graduate students and postdocs, DCAL has established a Learning Community for Future Faculty (LCFF). The focus of this group is to share the rewards and challenges of college teaching, while digging a bit deeper into best practices and techniques for teaching. The LCFF meets monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month.

Practice Your Poster Presentation

Practice Your Poster Presentation!
Date:
3/30/2018
Time:
12:00pm - 1:15pm
Location:
Campus:

PRACTICE FOR YOUR POSTER PRESENTATION FOR APRIL 4th!

Learning to present your research in three minutes is especially important for networking at conferences and interviewing for postdoc positions and industry jobs.

The GRAD Office is offering a workshop where graduate students present their research to their (smart, but not expert) peers and then receive feedback on both their explanation of their topic and their presentation skills. At the end of the session, the group will cast their vote on the best presenter for a prize. Please note: no computers/ no power point. Just graduate students speaking from memory.

A light lunch will be provided.
