I’m wondering what Logitech Connect gives you, over a quality webcam, like the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920, which costs about $50.  Either way, you need either a projector or a large display for the computer that is handling the Zoom meeting, right?  If the display devices can’t provide adequate sound, for some odd reason, a portable bluetooth speaker might serve.  Jon, do you find that you use the pan and tilt functions of the Logitech Connect camera?  How easy is it to steer, and who takes care of that?

We’ve been very happy with the Logitech Connect (https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/conferencecam-connect), which we use with Zoom in exactly the way that you describe.  Faculty check it out and take it around campus as needed.

It has a built in microphone and speaker, as well as a camera with the ability to pan and Zoom.  We plug it into the computer in the room with a USB extension cable so that we can move it exactly where we want (usually right under the screen).  You can use the Connect’s built in speaker or the sound system in the room without any problem.  The computer just views it as a webcam.

Subject: Zoom room

Hello LLTI Colleagues,

We are looking to acquire a camera and some kind of sound system (mic and speakers) to use Zoom videoconferencing for meetings and potentially classes. We're hoping the equipment can be used in conjunction with existing equipment in our classrooms (computer, projector, screen).  We do this regularly in small offices, but would like to get equipment that can be taken to different rooms and that can be used easily by most of us.

As I write up our resource requests, I'm wondering if any of you have recommendations for equipment that has worked well for you.

Thanks!

Carol
