The Neukom Scholars program funds computationally based research projects http://neukom.dartmouth.edu/programs/neukom-scholars.html. Additionally, Travel Grants enable undergraduates and grad students to attend meetings to present their (computational) work. More information at http://neukom.dartmouth.edu/programs/travel-grants.html. ######################################################################## * Lecture: Brain energetics & evolution of human childhood * Dr. Chris Kuzawa of Northwestern University will be speaking at Dartmouth on Friday, Sept 29 at 4pm in Haldeman Center, Room 041. This is part of the Anthropology Colloquium Series. Dr. Kuzawa’s work utilizes principles from anthropology and evolutionary biology to gain insights into the biological and health impacts of human developmental plasticity. His Dartmouth lecture will focus on the evolutionary origins of our extended childhood stage and how this relates to our energetically expensive brain. * Programming N' Pizza * Programming N' Pizza is a crowd-learning initiative led by the Dartmouth Library and Research Computing. It is an opportunity for the entire Dartmouth community to share, teach and learn programming skills in a casual, fun environment, where beginners and more advanced users can help each other. Each PNP participant can both help and be helped, and learn and teach skills that they want to share or pickup.
