Error during command authentication.

Error - unable to initiate communication with LISTSERV (errno=10061, phase=CONNECT, target=127.0.0.1:2306). The server is probably not started. LISTSERV - LLTI Archives - LISTSERV.DARTMOUTH.EDU

I would like to point out that the LLTI has searchable archives, at

http://listserv.dartmouth.edu/scripts/wa.exe?A0=LLTI

Just for the heck of it, I searched Systeme D and got hits going back to 1999. Since the reason I thought of Systeme-D is that someone recently mentioned it as a program that will never be useful again and is worthy of tossing out…. The archives may be of more historical use than any other. One advantage of having a site maintained by an individual is that that person can sort and organize materials so that they are easier to find and they get updated.

At one point, about 3 iterations of the website ago, IALLT was going to have its own wiki. That is not the same as an archive of lab manuals etc. but it might be useful.

I think it makes sense for IALLT to have a formal process/repository for collecting this information (could certainly use Google Sites). Maybe we can have sections for space design, games and language learning, etc. A place to put all the good info that comes out of this listserv.

...or someone/a few folks could create a site using Google sites and IALLT could just link to it.

I’d like to see a central repository of documents such as:

Examples of Student Handbooks

Examples of Director Handbooks

Signs/Posters promoting Centers

Blueprints or Layouts of Various Lab Facilities

etc.

etc.

Any IALLT people out there in charge of the web site at iallt.org that can expand the web site and include this? Sending out an ALL CALL!!!  :-)

Hi Daniel,

This is great, thanks for sharing, I gave a presentation at IALLT this past summer "Creating and cultivating a successful language center staff" and here are the slides from the presentation: https://goo.gl/c8qUaS. There are several links to checklists and other documents. Hope you find them helpful.

It would be nice to have a common space to share documents like this. Maybe a wordpress site or something?

Happy end of summer!

Jean

I’ve just updated my center’s handbook for the 2017-18 academic year, so this is timely! If you want to see what I have for Miami University, click on the Public Dropbox link here:

I’ll keep the link active for two weeks or so, then will retract it eventually.
