2017 Dartmouth Symposium for the Life Sciences

I am pleased to announce the 2017 Dartmouth Symposium for the Life Sciences, “Structural and Molecular Mechanisms of Host-Pathogen Interactions,” to be held on Tuesday, October 10.

Graduate Peer Tutor @ RWIT

Short Position Description:
Graduate Peer Tutors provide face-to-face support for graduate students working on projects involving communicating with audiences, including writing, speaking, and media compositions.
Location: On Campus
Terms: All terms; summer and interim periods are negotiable; start date negotiable
Pay: $13-15
Position Details:
Graduate Peer Tutors will work 5-8 hours per week during the term, starting in fall term of 2017. Limited working hours may be available during summers and during interim periods. Availability in those terms is desirable, but not required. Working hours will be distributed between the following categories:
1. Regularly scheduled tutoring shifts in the RWIT Center (Berry 183)
2. Independently scheduled tutoring meetings held on campus outside of RWIT's regular schedule,
perhaps including sessions during interim periods
3. Time spent preparing for scheduled tutoring sessions with active clients
4. Training and staff meetings
Successful applicants will demonstrate proficiency in writing conventions within at least one scholarly tradition, familiarity with academic research practices in their field of focus, exceptional oral communication abilities, and a track record of organization and responsibility. Applicants from all academic departments are encouraged to apply. In order to serve the Dartmouth student population, RWIT needs tutors familiar with STEM, humanities, and social-sciences writing.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor degree or advanced degree with an outstanding record of academic achievement; emphasis in mathematics, finance, economics, statistics, computer science, and/or machine learning
• Some programming experience required; familiarity with C/C++ or Java a plus
• Strong analytical and research skills

MAJOR DUTIES:
• Contribute to all aspects of the MDT quantitative process including investment research, software development and portfolio management
• Analyze financial data sets
• Design and run sophisticated simulations to evaluate potential investment strategies
• Develop innovative software tools to help drive the investment process
