Have you ever been offered a chance to teach something that was outside your specialty? If you have ever been in this situation, or may be in the future, join us at this month’s LCFF with special guest and local science teacher Patty Murray. Patty has taught multiple difference science disciplines at Woodstock Union and Hanover High School. She joins us to share her insights regarding how to prepare for a lesson that is outside your specialty and tricks for on the spot discussion of confusing topics. Come bearing questions and stories as we hope this meeting will be both an opportunity to learn some tricks and a great discussion!

In order to cultivate a community focused on teaching and learning amongst graduate students and postdocs, DCAL has established a Learning Community for Future Faculty (LCFF). The focus of this group is to share the rewards and challenges of college teaching, while digging a bit deeper into best practices and techniques for teaching. The LCFF meets monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month.

Senior Associate: Recent graduates from advanced degree programs and college graduates with relevant work experience join Clarion as Senior Associates, and can expect differences in expectations, compensation, and career trajectory based on the individual’s academic and professional experience.

Clarion Senior Associates gain exposure to a broad range of issues facing life science businesses in the rapidly changing biopharma industry. As a Senior Associate, you will develop and apply a solid set of skills that will help you contribute to our work in key areas and will serve you well throughout your career:

Research & Analysis: Using primary and secondary sources, you will identify information critical to understanding our clients’ business problems. Whether the information relates to market trends, companies, competitors, or products, you’ll learn to use your analytical skills to prioritize key issues, generate hypotheses, test them and transform key learnings to practical implications.
Creativity: Gain experience in approaches and processes that facilitate out-of-the-box thinking to craft actionable insights and thereby shape strategic direction for the clients. It is Clarion’s mission to support innovation in the life sciences among both our consultants and our clients.
Communication: Learn the skills to engage with clients in order to affect change that leads to better performance and ultimately improved outcomes for patients.

You will learn all these skills in a fun and intellectually stimulating environment with great colleagues. Each project is unique, but a case team typically consists of 3-6 Clarion members including a Managing Director and/or Principal, an experienced Consultant and/or Manager, and one or more Associates. Client interaction occurs at all levels and varies based on the project. Given the size of the firm, our entrepreneurial culture and relatively horizontal organizational structure, Associates / Senior Associates can expect to interact with Managing Directors frequently, benefitting from their seasoned judgment and experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – SENIOR ASSOCIATE
· MA or PhD degree, demonstrating significant academic achievement in any discipline completed / with anticipated graduation by April, 2018
· Demonstrated quantitative aptitude
· Solid critical thinking ability
· Strong communication skills (oral and written)
· Proven ability to work independently and as part of team
· Experience with PowerPoint and Excel a plus

Short Position Description:
Graduate Peer Tutors provide face-to-face support for graduate students working on projects involving communicating with audiences, including writing, speaking, and media compositions.
Location: On Campus
Terms: All terms; summer and interim periods are negotiable; start date negotiable
Pay: $13-15
Position Details:
Graduate Peer Tutors will work 5-8 hours per week during the term, starting in fall term of 2017. Limited working hours may be available during summers and during interim periods. Availability in those terms is desirable, but not required. Working hours will be distributed between the following categories:
1. Regularly scheduled tutoring shifts in the RWIT Center (Berry 183)
2. Independently scheduled tutoring meetings held on campus outside of RWIT's regular schedule,
perhaps including sessions during interim periods
3. Time spent preparing for scheduled tutoring sessions with active clients
4. Training and staff meetings
Successful applicants will demonstrate proficiency in writing conventions within at least one scholarly tradition, familiarity with academic research practices in their field of focus, exceptional oral communication abilities, and a track record of organization and responsibility. Applicants from all academic departments are encouraged to apply. In order to serve the Dartmouth student population, RWIT needs tutors familiar with STEM, humanities, and social-sciences writing.
