Fifteen birders joined me for a bird walk at Bedell Bridge State Park in Haverhill earlier today. Forty six species were recorded during our visit. It was a good opportunity to study the vocalizations of many of the common breeding birds at this site, in addition we enjoyed nice views of many cooperative birds. Some highlights included a Double-crested Cormorant and an American Kestrel both flying over. We clearly heard a Red-bellied Woodpecker and a Yellow-throated Vireo. Swallows and flycatchers were well represented with Tree, Bank, and Northern Rough-winged Swallows and Least, Willow, Great-crested Flycatchers as well as Eastern Wood-pewee and Eastern Kingbird. We had nice views of Veeries, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak and a Baltimore Oriole on a nest.
