An eventful morning for the 18 participants who attended this annual spring
journey along the Connecticut River, from Wilson's Landing in Hanover to
Grant Brook in Lyme. This trip is organized by Mascoma Audubon, Hanover
Conservancy, and Upper Valley Land Trust.

Waterfowl included Canada goose, mallard, American black duck, wood duck,
green-winged teal, and common and hooded mergansers. One Bald Eagle was
sighted at Wilson's Landing, and an Osprey eating a fish was observed where
Grant Brook meets the Connecticut. Other highlights were wild turkeys and
turkey vultures, belted kingfisher, two rough-winged swallows, and pine and
palm warblers. Most remarkable were 2 male rufous-sided towhees at Grant
Brook, one of which perched in view for all to see.

Thanks to leaders George Clark, Jeff McQueen, Blake Allison, and Gail
McPeek.
